Nothing has changed, even though everything has.

Often if we live with chronic illness/ disability it can slowly erode our self confidence without us really noticing it. Sometimes it might show by wanting to be smaller, quieter, finding it hard to speak up, finding it difficult in social situations. Self confidence is difficult. It's something that takes time to build up but is easily knocked down. Luckily it can be built up again.

If you are struggling today with self confidence I want to remind you of this;

You are the same person you were before your diagnosis. Nothing has changed, even though everything has.

You have the right to speak up for yourself, communicating your wants and needs just like everyone else.

Those thoughts in your head about how you're not good enough are not true.

You have as much right to be alive as every other person in the world.

You have good points and bad points just like every one else – that means you are okay, and so is everyone around you. Focus on your good points.

Self confidence is hard when you don't know where to start. I like Dr Williams' podcast on “Unhelpful Thinking”. It goes with the last blog about trying to be your own friend.
