WHY?

&

WHO?

My name is Laura Gould and I am the Founder of

Facing Illness Together.

I am 29 years old, and having faced illness myself for the majority of my life, I understand how much of a challenge facing illness actually is, especially when you're facing it alone!

That's why, two years ago I set up Facing Illness Together because I didnt believe that anyone should have to suffer illnesss alone and I wanted people in similar situations to be able to come together and by doing so, give and receive valuable support.

F.I.T originally started off as just a small group on facebook, with only a handul of members. My aim was to suceed in offering comfort and support to others in tough situations, living with either a chronic mental or physical illness. I knew I was taking on a challenge, and a risk too - a risk that I would not be able to reach people and therefore would be wasting my time.

But everything that's worthwhile is worth a try. So I continued...

Now, two years on and the F.I.T community is progressing fantastically. The F.I.T Facebook Group has grown, and our ever growing community is now over 3500 members strong!

WHAT?

Facing Illness Together, aka, F.I.T, is an online community, offering support to anyone over the age of 18 suffering from a chronic/ long term physical and/ or mental illness.

The support services the F.I.T community currently offers to anyone within the community, consist of -

And for anyone who has 'subscribed' to become a F.I.T Member (see here), F.I.T also offers -

  • The Text - Line, a handy pal in your pocket, offering support via Text messaging.

So, in a nutshell, Facing Illness Together is what it says - Facing Illness, Together and not alone. Because that is the key in surviving chronic illness, being part of a strong and supportive community and not suffering alone.

So, if you're not already a member, subscribe today, receive a membership pack in the post and loads more member benefits, and become a part of 'Facing Illness Together' - where 'Together We Are Stronger'.

So, why another supportive community you may ask?

F.I.T is different because unlike other communities, F.I.T offers support to anyone and everyone facing illness providing they are aged 18 or over and there's no other specific criteria for you to be a part of our community.

So, whether you suffer physically or mentally, experience pain every day or none at all, have a visible or invisible illness, walk or use a wheelchair, have a diagnosis or just know something's wrong (the list is endless)...

Provided you are FACING ILLNESS in one way or another, you can be a F.I.T'er and gain strength in together-ness.

The point is - we all just want to be understood, have friends, be heard and feel supported, and its the same for all of us, regardless of what we illnesses we face. Together we are stronger!
