How you FEEL is OK

How you feel is ok...

Sometimes it feels like we need to wear a particular emotion to fit in. Whether it be happy in a social situation or sad when we get a new diagnosis.

The fact is though as people our emotions are complicated. Most of the time we don't have what we feel rightly measured and labelled in a box. This can be frustrating. Society likes labels. It teaches us that labels tell us who we are and what we should do. But most the time labelling emotions is not helpful. How you feel is how you feel and that's okay. It's nothing to feel guilty about, it's not something we should challenge a person on.

However you feel whether positive, negative or unknown is okay. It's just the way you feel.

Now I'm not saying if we feel very sad we shouldn't do things to make ourselves feel better if we can. I'm just saying, don't beat yourself up however you feel. Emotions are to a certain extent uncontrollable so know it's okay to feel how you do, however that may be.
